The tango in Buenos Aires for a twenty-something guy in the 2000s was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Little pieces of lyrics inserted into any sentence while passing by, images of yesterday always within reach, and an air suspiciously similar to the future, very similar to the past. They say the Tango is always waiting for you, and it's probably true…. My first tango group was a duo called Recto and Sastre, along with Juan Pablo Amato. Who was Recto and who was Sastre? It's hard to know.... Around 2003 we were diving into the most guitar-driven tangos of Rivero and Gardel, of Rosita Quiroga. Later on, I formed the Onírica Orchestra, this time with guitar and mandolin, alongside Sepi Antola and Juani Spolidoro. We played quite a bit together and gave ourselves the pleasure of creating '¿Dónde me trajiste?', whose courtyard was filmed in this video. But that story will be told in another note....
TANGOS LUNGOS
Tango that you did wrong and yet I love you
TANGOS LUNGOS ALBUM
But then I edited the album Tangos Lungos, which I even got to present in Mexico City (!). In the video we see one of those performances, precisely a milonga at the Milonga Malena.
Also from that album is this tango that we had the pleasure of being able to deliver to Juan, generous colifa....
GATO DE PH
The tango allowed me to meet a lot of incredible people, and with many of them I had the opportunity to share the recording of my second album: GATO de PH. There, this waltz is included that pays homage to one of the most important and notable tango movements of the time, Cucuza and the Faro, the Faro and Cucuza. Here we're playing it at the Faro, exactly.
