CRACKS DE NACAR
The first strangeness to overcome is the title, which seems to be in another language. Crack is an English word, accepted by the Royal Spanish Academy, meaning an athlete of extraordinary skill. Mother-of-pearl, on the other hand, is an organic-inorganic substance used, among other things, to make buttons. Second strangeness: this is a film about buttons (of clothing, but outside of them) playing soccer. Soccer with buttons? Yes, but the buttons don't move alone; they are moved by Rómulo Berruti and Alfredo Serra, veteran journalists, old friends, excellent conversationalists (and whiskey drinkers) and passionate button football players. Not every button is a crack, and it's so true that the chosen ones are personalized and baptized with names like Bordenave or Rojas. ‘Cracks de Nácar’ is a singular game film, but above all, a calm, fluid portrait of friendship united by the taste for anecdote, sharp conversation, zany looks at the world, and the sophisticated intelligence (shared by Berruti, Serra, and the film) to laugh at oneself.

chaira: original music
"It was a beautiful challenge to compose and record the original complete music for this beautiful film, as we tried to reflect something of the sense of humor and camaraderie it transmits (as well as some very funny retro touches for some special sections of the film). It has been an unforgettable work."
